A Day Spent With The Installation Crew: From a Marketing Coordinator's Point Of View

When I asked our Production Manager, Aaron Lenker how hard is your job, really? He smiled and said, “Well, it’s not easy, but you get used to it.” What does that mean? What do you mean, Aaron! I thought, well there is only one way to find out. I checked the calendar and I scheduled myself to be at the very next WaterGuard System Installation.

Installation day is here, and I’m ready to learn! Now, I’m the Marketing Coordinator, so I should start this by saying my workday starts at 8:00AM. I soon learned this is NOT the case for our Production Crew. In fact, their workday starts at 5:00AM. I was off to a great start!

I met the Crew at the customer’s house. By the time I got there, the truck was already unloaded, and they were hard at work! I checked in with the homeowner, introduced myself, and she showed me the way to where I could find my crew.  Everyone had a job to do and that’s exactly what they did. Production Foreman, Jacob Rodola took the time to start showing me the ropes.

Once the perimeter of the basement concrete floor is jackhammered out, it was time to fill buckets with the debris left behind. I asked Jacob, “where do we take the buckets?” He smiled and pointed upwards. So, what that meant was carry the concrete debris filled buckets up the steps, out of the home, and load them back onto the truck. Those buckets are easily 50-80lbs of broken concrete. I was determined to at least carry one out. I managed to get up the steps, and halfway to the truck before a crew member stopped me and took it from there.

Everyone knew exactly what their job was. They explained every step of the process as they were going, and I was able to learn a lot about the products, but most importantly I learned what it takes to be part of the “team.”

The WaterGuard System was ready to be installed. This system is an effective and reliable way to solve wet basement problems permanently.  I assisted with carrying products like WaterGuard Port, Drain Outlets, and Wall Flanges to the basement. I watched the crew as they carried more buckets! What could they possibly be doing now, with more buckets, I wondered? It was stone. I watched as they effortlessly carried the stone filled buckets down the steps, and into the basement. The stone is evenly placed around the WaterGuard in the trench they had jackhammered out earlier in the morning.

Once The WaterGuard System was installed, it was time to mix concrete. I’m sure at this point you’re wondering, what do they put the mixed concrete in? I’ll give you a hint, it’s buckets! To help the crew, I started to sweep and remove any debris that was visible. Concrete was evenly spread, and it looked great! We carried all remaining materials and EMPTY buckets back to the truck.

The Installation Crew is very professional. They take much pride in their work and are very thorough during the entire process. The crew made sure to clean their area before moving on to the next phase in the Installation Process. With everyone doing their part and working together, the installation time was quick, and the results were immaculate!

The customer was very happy with the outcome of their new basement! They plan to use this space for a gaming room for family and friends to enjoy. Now, having a reliable Waterproofing System Installed, they will never have to worry about a wet, basement again.

This was not only a great learning experience, but I now have such a profound appreciation, and admiration for our crew members here at Liberty Basement Systems. I want to thank Production Crew members, Raphael Ocasio, Seth Agosto, Jon Palko, and Foreman Jacob Rodola for taking their time to make me feel like part of the team, being so kind and patient as I navigated my way through the Installation Process.
