Crawl Space Encapsulation Solves Water Problem in Tobyhanna, PA
Challenge
Tobyhanna, PA homeowner called our office looking for a permanent solution to their wet crawl space problem problem. Having examined the crawl space thoroughly, Todd D. recommended the ultimate crawl space waterproofing solution.
For a permanent solution to the wet crawl space issue, Todd recommended an encapsulation system. To successfully encapsulate the crawl space, drainage mats, a vapor barrier system, seal crawl space vents from outside air, a perimeter drainage system, a sump pump system to eliminate water from the space through an exterior discharge line, and a dehumidifier are needed.
Solution
It was necessary to fully encapsulate their crawl space to fix the problem. In order to do this, Liberty Basement Systems' crawl space repair crew installed Drainage Matting throughout the crawl space floor. Drainage Matting gives the water flooding into your crawl space a channel underneath your crawl space liner. This directs the water flooding your crawl space to your perimeter crawl space drain and sump pump system.
The crew installed a perimeter drainage system to collect water entering the crawl space and drain it to the SmartSump Pump System. Our SmartSump is designed to keep your crawl space dry at all times.
CleanSpace Vent Seals were installed over the vents to prevent outside moisture from entering the crawl space. CleanSpace Vapor Barrier was installed over the drainage mat, on the crawl space walls, and around the piers. CleanSpace is a thick liner that protects the crawl space from groundwater seepage, mold, pests, and provides a bright clean space.
To keep the air dry and humidity levels low, a SaniDry Sedona Crawl Space Dehumidification System was installed. The Sedona has a self-draining mechanism that allows the condensation that was collected from the air to be drained into the sump pump system and out of the home through an exterior discharge line.
A trench is dug outside of the home to place the discharge line. The crew ensures a safe distance is maintained so water cannot re-enter the crawl space. A IceGuard attachment was installed over the discharge pipe to prevent water from freezing in the pipe during the winter months.
